This cafe is on War Memorial Drive near the golf course and on the bike/walking track. It is in the old North Adelaide railway station building so overall it has a great location. I was interested to know what the shop was rather than the food so decided to stop there about an hour before closing on a weekday.
The staff were very friendly and were happy to show me through the building (the cafe wasn’t busy) and into what had been the station master’s house – where the shop is now located. This shop is a retro/vintage collection and is in a small room off the passageway. It is well stocked and presented in such a small space and for those into that type of thing you would be sure to find something. Continue reading →

Cool little place on Jetty Road at Glenelg. Stock bulk health foods with a café at the front with street seating. The young guy who served me looked totally healthy and gave good service and alternatives. Gluten free toasted bun was delicious and coffee had a soft texture and was highly drinkable. Very clean and light and airy. Well worth a try.
The Palm House was imported from Bremen, Germany, back in 1875 in kit form – a remarkable achievement considering the distance and the amount of glass involved. It was constructed in a way that was advanced engineering for the time.
It is a unique structure and had been meticulously restored to its original form. If you compare original photos with the current structure you will notice that there are very little differences.
Being in the Palm House is a quiet experience. You can take in the history of the structure as well as enjoy the plants. The grotto is also and original feature and was constructed of stones imported from the Black Forest in Germany.
There is a café near the Palm House which gives you a great view of the House and the nearby lake while you enjoy good coffee, a light meal or a snack served by friendly staff.
Rymill Park is a small oasis on the east end of Adelaide and still beautiful despite the O-Bahn extensions happening on its northern edge. Great place to get out in the sun, enjoy the lake, the play equipment, or just relax at lunch time or on the weekend.
Easy walking distance to Rundle Mall and the business district of Adelaide. Continue reading →
Great little find on East Terrace. This little café offers healthy food with vegan options. Breakfast from until 11:30 am and lunch from 11:30 am but as we were there at a reasonably quiet time, the chef let us order from both menus – very obliging. The food was great – pumpkin pizza, blueberry pancakes, freshly made juices and first class coffee; and the staff that you can see here were absolutely perfect!
Parking nearby is easy to find – 1 hour, 3 and 10 hours. You have to pay for it but it’s worth it. You can find 2 hour parks on Hutt Street and the short walk past Rymill Park is easy.
Located in Adelaide’s trendy south west corner, this is great little breakfast café. Owned by two friendly fun guys who make you feel welcome and tell you they’re glad you called in. The menu is small but interesting and the food is fresh and tasty.
Lots of office workers taking out coffee which is of a fantastic standard – definitely 5 star rating.
If you work on the south west corner of the city, this is a great option for good coffee and well-priced breakfast and lunch dishes.
Next time you are in Goodwood, do yourself a favour and check out Alter Ego in Gilbert Street – that’s the street that runs down the side of the Capri Cinema.
This little cafe would have to be one of the best in Adelaide. The service and quality coffee from owner Rob is impeccable and the food served up by chef Brad is top class. The prices are unbelievably low – great value for money. I can absolutely recommend the Eggs Florentine served with delicious Hollandaise sauce like nothing I have ever tasted. Other favourites include Bircher muesli, grilled snapper … the list is too long.
The guys are very obliging and make up what you want if it’s not exactly what’s on the menu. Once you have been to Alter Ego you will go back again and again – and get exactly the same great service and brilliant food.
